Women Lawyers Association of the ACT and Maddocks were delighted to host a special event screening of Just Mercy last Thursday 6 February 2019 at Palace Electric Cinema.

Based on Bryan Stevenson’s bestselling 2014 memoir, Just Mercy tells the true story of Stevenson’s early career working to reverse wrongful convictions in Alabama. The movie focuses on the true story of Walter McMillian and his battle to appeal his murder conviction. The film is a thought provoking piece on the US justice system and on concepts of justice, morality and law more generally.
