WLA ACT Annual General Meeting, 2020

 

The Women Lawyers Association of the ACT (WLA) is preparing for our upcoming Annual General Meeting. The AGM will be held at 6pm on Thursday, 29 October 2020 via Zoom.

If you are interested in nominating for a position on the Executive or Management Committee, please have the nomination form completed by a Proposer and Seconder, and return it by email to contact@wlaact.org.au by 5pm Wednesday, 28 October 2020. We encourage all members to consider nominating for a position.

Please note, it is envisaged that two members will act as Co-Chairs or Co-Officers for each of the following positions:

  • Chair of the Events Subcommittee

  • Chair of the Policy Subcommittee

  • Chair of the Communications Subcommittee

For the AGM to proceed, 12% of the Association’s membership must be present in person or by proxy. If you are unable to attend, please complete the below online proxy form by 5pm on Wednesday, 28 October 2020.  

With our increased membership numbers, it can sometimes be difficult to reach a quorum so we are always grateful for members returning proxies if they will not be attending in person. 

If you are not attending the AGM you may appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf, in accordance Rule 25 of the WLA ACT Rules. 

This will assist WLA ACT in meeting its quorum for the AGM. 

You are able to nominate any WLA ACT member or President of WLA ACT, Danielle Mildren.

Any proxy you appoint must be a member and must have paid all money due and payable by them to the Association prior to commencement of the meeting, other than the amount of the annual membership payable for the current year. The appointment must be made in writing.
